Would have been

My brother-in-law would have been 40 years old this year.

Last Wednesday we celebrated what would have been Uncle Travis's Birthday.
The family gathered at Grandad & DeeDee's house.
We watched old home movies.
Looked through pictures.
Told stories.
Laughed and cried.
The kids get a kick out of seeing their dads retro apparel.
I made his favorite cake.
Yellow with chocolate frosting.
We miss you Uncle Travis.
I never knew you personally,
but I feel as though I do.
We all blew out the candles,
and made a wish.
My wish is to meet you for real someday.
We'll share stories and eat cake.
Happy 40th Birthday!

What time is it?

Summer Time!

It's official.
The day is finally here.
We've been counting down ya know.
The LAST day of school!
Ya - HoooHoooo!

And now ...Random Stuff.

I walked out my door this morning and THIS is what was staring me right in face!
Hello Sun!
I couldn't have sat my coffee down any quicker to run and get my phone.
I just love the rays and the colorful bokeh effect ...it's almost like a sun flower coming right atch'ya!
Great start to my day!

Every year over graduation weekend BU has what they call STAG.  Alumni return to catch up with their peeps.  It's just a fancy word for "party."
Of course my neighbors, Baker grads or not, wouldn't miss a chance to party!
Are you kidding me!?!?
Everyone pretty much celebrates!
Yah.  We had a good time.
I'll just leave it at that .....mmmk!?

I'm lovin' this pretty chiffon maxi.
I don't usually do pastel, or floral, but I like the flow and the softness.
It's at Sheinside.com.  Ever shop there?  If not, you should definitely check it out.
I like the long thin straps and you can wear it in different ways - halter, criss-cross across the neck or  tie the straps in a bow and wear it as a strapless.
Like it too?  Find the details HERE

TTFN lovies...
I simply Must go & enjoy this beautiful day!
I think I'll go get the kids and hit up Sonic for some last day of school chillaxin'!

Football Fantasy

We had a visitor on campus the other day.

Green Bay Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy.

Just my luck.
Normally people get to meet someone famous, take a quick pic, and show it off...look at me, look who I met!
Not me.
What I got was...
The back of my head.

He played tight end for Baker University at one time and now serves on the Board of Trustees.

He's a Big Deal here.  And Everywhere!
He's a Big guy.
Very nice.
I'm glad I had the chance to meet him.

Just so you know...I don't know Anything about football except that Mike McCarthy IS the Head Coach for the Green Bay Packers.

I hate the back of my hair by the way...
Note to self:  Fix the back of your hair!  SOON!!!

Today Caden has his very first school dance.  It's right after school.

I wish I could be a fly on the wall.

I Love this:

What is your Passion?
Are you living your dream?
Hungry for more?

Think about it.

{Texture Tuesday} Chase

...a day late.

No surprise right!?!

Texture used:  Chase by Kim Klassen

re{collection} Monday - Bang! Pow! Wham!

We got in the car and drove to my favorite place.
We picked asparagus.
I love fresh asparagus.
a lot.
I like to eat it straight off the stalk.
Or good ol' fashioned steam it.
I like to grill it too.
What's your favorite way to eat it?

"Hello, the earth is under attack here people!"

The Avengers movie opened this weekend.
We've been waiting for what seems like forever for this movie to come out.
You can better believe we went to see it on Saturday night.

"Phil? His first name is Agent!"

Confession:  I didn't really think I would like this one.
I did.
If you're a Marvel Comics fan...you're in for a real treat.

"Shakespeare in the Park?
Doth mother know you weareth her drapes?"

Our favorite part is spotting the Stan Lee cameo!

We were talking about it all through dinner last night.
We may have to go see it AGAIN!
We Never do that...but I think it's really gonna happen!

"Apparently I'm volatile, self-obsessed, and don't play well with others."

{Flashback} Friday & A Favor

The year:  1985.

 Springsteen, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV

I was fashioning a Miami Vice inspired sweater, that looks like it came straight
from my bedroom floor, and stirrup pants.
Stirrup Pants.
Oh, and you can better believe I'm avoiding any and all conversation about My Hair!
WHAT was I thinking?
I'm sooo glad we have better product available to us these days.

My brother was a wrestler and on this particular night I think he was up for King of Winter Sports.
Looks like someone needs to feed him a sandwich!

Now then.
I have a favor to ask...if you would be so kind.

Tucker Brown, Baldwin High School senior has won the Doodle4Google contest for the state of Kansas out of 114,000 applicants. The contest theme is "If I could travel in time, I would go . . ." He and a parent get an all expense paid trip to New York City where they will announce the national winner on May 18th. The winner will also receive a $30,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 technology grant for their school.

For him to win, and for the chance for our high school to benefit as well, he needs your vote. Voting ends May 10th. You can only vote once per "device", which means computer, iPhone, iPad, old computer, etc. He’s listed as Tucker B, from Baldwin KS, 10-12 grade. His design is the Google Cave Painting.

This is an amaaazing opportunity for an outstanding, smart, and talented young man.  Please...Please vote for him HERE.  I "Thank You" for him.

I'm OFF to enjoy the weekend with my family.  The Avengers opens TODAY!!!  Yaaaaaayyyy!!!

Flashback Friday

Thursday {three}

Three things about my day...today...so far.

I got tired of having to shut my blinds every time I'm in the bathroom.
I love the natural light,
but I really don't want my neighbors watching while I do personal stuff....ya know!?!
So I put this stuff on my windows last night.
I got it at Home Depot for like $21 or $23.
I really like it.

Meg at whatever was asking about some trees in her yard recently.
I think I may have the same tree outside my window at work.
I'm told they're called a Catalpa Tree.

They're sooo Big.

and pretty.

I'm told the trees here on campus are over a hundred years old.

They were planted here because they bloom for only a short time.
And it's almost always in time for commencement.

I'll leave you today with a snap of my little biscuits.

They know when I'm making brother's lunch.
They like ham!

Note:  All pictures were taken with my cell phone this morning.
I was being lazy.
My bad.

Enjoy your day!
