His World

The other day I went into Caden's room to put his shoes in his closet.  While in there something caught my eye.  The creative way in which my son has each and every shelf.  Every toy, book and video has it's place.  Note: He did not get this from me.

The wrestlers were all hangin' out in the green room  ...kinda like they were at a party.  Wrestlers Only!

Peter Parker was hangin on the edge.  He didn't want to hang out with those guys any way.

Looks like this scarry dude tried to get in the party and the guys hung him.

The midget wrestlers are having their own tough man contest.

Woody stayed home, he's tired.

...and the puppies are huddled together cus they're sceered.

awww  ...to be a kid again.

New Addition

Meet Mitsy ...the cute little punkin who's come to be a part of our family.

She''s 9 weeks old and I don't even think she weighs 2 pounds.

She has so Sooo much energy.  She reminds me of Twitchy from Hoodwinked.

She even has too much energy for Maisy.

She needed a home, so we're happy to take her in.  Carody has taken the responsibility of caring for her.  At first I thought it would end up being too much, but Carody has been doing an awesome job.  The first night was a long one, then it got better and better.
She finds comfort in my laundry pile  ...it's funny the places we find her.

Yes.  I buy my dogs toys to play with ...but for some reason they like to play with plastic bottles.  They like to remove the cap and then they're done.

She's a strong willed little thing.  Slowly but surely she's learning how we do things around here.

Mitsy is a welcome addition to our family and I think we all have lots to look forward to.

Valentine Mantel

After putting away the Christmas decorations, I wasn't looking forward to putting back my mantel the way I had it before. I was ready for a change. I wanted it to be pretty and festive, being just after Christmas though I had zero budget left to work with. So my goal was to have a great mantel without spending any  ...err ugh very little money. Can it be done?

Well  ...almost.

We started by making a Valentine bunting flag out of scrapbook paper I had left over from Carody's baby book.  Yeah, I've had it that long.

The letters and hearts were printed from the computer, cut out and placed on the flag.  Remember when I took that knitting class and the teacher kindly told me I should probably find another hobby?  Well, the string for the bunting is the yarn from that class.

Turned out pretty good if I do say so myself.  Now to fill the rest of the space...

And here it is.  My Valentine Mantel.  I don't think I'll be finding it on Pinterest or anything, but I like the way it turned out.  I'm proud to say that the only thing I purchased was the heart shaped wreath ($9.99 at Michael's) and the ribbon holding it ($1.00 at Michael's).  The bird house came from my kitchen.  The window came from the storage room.  The frames came from Carody's room...and so on and so on.  Anyway, I like it.  It makes me happy.

Have you decorated for Valentine's Day?  I'd love to see what you've done!

Let's Rehash the Holidays Shall We?

Hey there...How are ya?  It's been a while.  I seem to have fallen behind on my blog updates.  My bad.

This is Jill's holiday break recap:  The Speedy Version.

Ron's Here!  (my daughter's boyfriend)

aaaand they're ordering pizza.

Caden spent the first part of his holiday break catching up on homework.

Carody wrapped presents.

Little did she know she was wrapping her own gift!

Mama made the neighbors some Cowboy Salsa.  Yum.  Find the recipe {Here}

...and decorated them oh so lovely.

The Franklin Family Christmas Tree...

It looks like we didn't put any time or effort into decorating it.  There's a reason for that.  When we got the tree it was full, beautiful and smelled oh sooo good.  Then after about a week it stopped drinking it's water and the branches started to sag and it hardened.  I'm pretty sure it's because of the weird weather patterns we're experiencing.

My brother made some goodies for Christmas Eve...MMmmmm....Bacon wrapped smokies.

and

Smoked Cream Cheese Stuffed Jalapenos
How 'bout THAT!

My family smooshed into my little kitchen.  I may have a small kitchen, but we had Big fun!

I hope you and your family enjoyed the holiday season to the fullest.

Resolve to make at least one person happy every day,
and then in ten years you may have made three thousand,
six hundred and fifty persons happy,
or brightened a small town by your contribution to the fund of general enjoyment.
