Flashback Friday

Look-It what I found!

It's Me!  Waaaay back in 1975.

And this is my daughter.
My Mini-Me.

We're pretty much the same, Carody and I.  It is by comparing pics like this that I realize she looks like me, because when I look at her daily, I see a lot of her dad.  It's not all about the looks though, she's my partner in crime now.

Friday Photo Flashback

Wordless Wednesday

With words of course.

I haven't much experience with texture, so I played with it today.  I love the look and can't wait to play again soon.

I can't tell you the exact texture I used because it's been on file for so long that I don't know any more.
I know I love it though, and I look forward to using it again.  Soon.

Anyway, I hope you like it.

and then, she {snapped}

Sweet Shot Tuesday

Caden celebrated his 11th birthday a couple weeks ago.  I finally got some pictures to send out to the family.  If you only knew how hard it is to take a picture of this kid...oooh!

He's growing up so fast.

Next year he will start Jr. High.
Jr. High???
I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around that one.

I Love you Caden Bear!

Sweet Shot Day

It's getting warmer and warmer... time to get out those shorts and put away the comfy clothes.

Saturday, Caden and I went on a hunt for some shorts. This kid has grown so much over the winter; I couldn’t even answer the girl when she asked me what size. Weird, right? We found some we could both agree on, which Never happens. *Yay!*

Mission complete – Time to eat!

We headed on over to a new place in town called Smashburger. Conveniently located just two doors down from Orange Leaf frozen yogurt. I’ve heard it mentioned many times, we should see what the buzz is all about. This was getting better by the minute!

We, meaning our family, are burger joint connoisseurs. We love old burger joints, off the wall burger joints, burger joints that only the lucky ones know about, you know what I’m getting at here. Smashburger is what they call “fast casual” dining. It’s a step {or two or three} above Mickey D’s yet not fancy pants either. It’s juuust right.

This corn fed Kansas Girl likes the fact that they use 100% Grass Fed Beef to make these tasty burgers. They roll the meat mixture into balls and then smash ‘em on a hot grill. This process makes the burger kinda crispy on the outside and mouthwatering juicy on the inside…thus the Smashburger.

Oh! And you Gotta try the Smashfries too.  Seriously.  They’re made with garlic and rosemary, and you bet, we ate every last one!

I think he's a happy boy!  In fact, he may need some larger shorts after this.
And yes, we did go to the Orange Leaf.  We liked it so much that we went back the next day with Sis.

Head Works

Last weekend the kids and I went out to shoot some pictures and we ended up behind the art department on the university.  I drive by it every day and don't really pay much attention to it.  I love art people.  I love the way they can create something out of basically nothing.  Sometimes though, I have to admit I just don't quite understand them.  Here's what we found out back:

Yes heads.

Lining the sidewalk.

Yep somehow interesting.

Take a look...

Catchin' some rays.

They're talking about a cute boy.

Better get a bucket!

The back of heads.

Hey look!  It's Chet from Weird Science!

Cool!   Medusa!

"Mom, can we go now?  This is creeping me out."

As we backed out of our parking spot this guy was looking at me.

Pirate on a stick.
Yeah, it kinda creeped me out a little too.  But in a good way I guess.

Have you done anything out of the ordinary lately?

Flashback Friday

I received an email from the BJHS Yearbook class; they will be making a special presentation to be shown at the 8th grade promotion ceremony.  They've asked for two pictures:  preferably one younger and one current picture.  So over the weekend, I got out the baby books, and the boxes...oh, and the Kleenex.
Easter 2000, Carody was 3

I'm not sending this one to the school, I just put it on here cuz I like it.
It makes me smile.
3 years old

Carody wanted a new picture, one that nobody had seen before.  So last weekend we went out and took lots and lots of pictures.  Here's what she gave me permission to use...remember, she's 13 and she has to have the final say...or so she thinks.

Friday Photo Flashback

Friday = White

It's all about White today at Poppytalk
as we close out
Spring Colours Week

All of my pictures were taken Monday of this week, on the Campus of Baker University.
I have been blessed not only to work here, but to reside and raise my family here as well.
It's beautiful, peaceful and I am thankful every day.

I hope you all enjoy a wonderful Spring time!

Thursday = Lavender

So it continues, over at Poppytalk, Springtime Colours Week.... today it's all about Lavender.
Hyacinth Flowers on Baker University Campus

Makes you wonder if there are any bunnies or candy in there.

Lavender.  It's pretty.  It smells good.  Did you know that aromatherapists use lavender to treat headaches?  I know because I've dealt with migraines for years.  They're awful!  You can cook with lavender, and even put it in your tea ...it's calming.  You can throw a sachet in your dryer to make your clothes smell great.  My mother in law taught me to use a lavender oil mist to sooth a sunburn.  She always has lavender growing in her yard.

How do you enjoy Lavender?

Wednesday = Pink

It's Spring Colour Week over at Poppytalk and today is Pink:

The Grape Arbor at Baker University
I walked by this Magnolia Tree on my way to lunch today.  I love walking on campus in the spring.  Sometimes I have to bring out the good ol' 1980's hairspray, but hey, it's worth it!
Run on over and join the fun at Poppytalk...mmmk!?!

Tuesday = Yellow

It's "Spring Colours Week" at Poppytalk.  Yesterday was green.  I missed that day, darn!
Today is Yellow.

I took this picture of the flowers sitting on my desk with my Droid phone.  They remind me that spring really Is coming.  They make me happy.  Oh and my little Maisy dog too.

My son made this Honey Bee a few years back, and he too hangs in my office under the window.  Ever Since Caden saw The Bee Movie with Barry B. Benson he's been very protective of bees and their honey.  This was taken with my Droid as well...so sorry for the poor quality...my bad.

Ok....so now this is turning into a scavenger hunt...
when I got home there were Bananas in my kitchen!

Carody made this toothpick holder for me one year for Mother's Day.
I don't think this was the intended purpose, but it works.

I've always loved this picture of her giving me flowers...errr ummm...dandelions.

Hanging above that picture is the painting she made in 4th grade of
pretty yellow flowers in a pretty yellow vase.
Crafty little gal, hugh!?!

Are ya ready for this ?
Last but certainly not least ~

You'll get a kick out of this one!

Every day I make a deposit, and a copy for the records, for Big Daddy's business.
I maaay have, on occasion, forgotten to make a copy of the deposit.  I can neither confirm nor deny these allegations.
So, this my friends, is my yellow reminder. Hanging on the door. leading to the garage, on the way to my car.

And there you have it.  That's the yellow in my life.

Wanna play along?  See the Colors of Spring in Your world...It's fun!  You'll be amazed at what you'll find.  Here's the plan for the rest of the week:

Wednesday ~ Pink

Thursday ~ Lavender

Friday ~ White

NOTE:  I didn't get my homework in on time to I didn't get to play with the other kids...Boo!  =(
