And The Word Is...(2011)

It’s a new year. Time to start fresh. Review the past and look toward the future.
"I want to lose weight.” {I just want to fit into the jeans already in my closet}
"I will spend even MORE time with my family."
"I intend to eat healthy every day." …ok ALMOST every day.
Yeah…Blah, Blah, Blah…Babble, Babble, Babble!

New Year’s Resolutions.
Grand plans.
Statements that reflect some area in our life that we’re not so happy with.
Ever done them – made New Year’s resolutions? Yep.
You know, like the spike in gym memberships in January of each year – followed by the decline in February!?!  Yep, been there ~ done that! More than I'd like to admit.
New Year’s resolutions, made with good intentions and big visions …usually fade quickly as our daily lives take us to where we’ve always been.

Last year, I was inspired by a much different approach to New Year’s resolutions – a concept by singer/song writer/blogger {Christine Kane}.  The idea – to come up with one word to focus on.
The idea – that this one word will connect with us at a much deeper level, and inspire us to make it become part of our daily life. That it will BE part of our true fabric. And in being part of us at a much deeper level, this word will be a guide toward the life we desire, toward doing the things that are in alignment with what this word means to us.

I spent a lot of time thinking about what words.  What really connected with me?  My thoughts kept coming back to this One Word.

SPLASH!

SPLASH – what does that mean to me?   Adventure, Action, and Fun.

Taking action and jumping in – SPLASH!

Having fun – SPLASH!

Seeing the adventure that comes in all of life's moments – SPLASH!

It’s about not only the big SPLASHES in life, it's really about embracing all of life's moments – big and small and everything in between – and seeing that jumping in is really a beautiful part of life. And as much as this is about embracing life in a very physical sense, for me this also means jumping in to my own internal thoughts as well. Being with those thoughts that I have bouncing around in my head and in my heart – and taking the time to SPLASH around with them, to not ignore these thoughts in the normal-ness of daily life.

In everything that this upcoming year holds, I am ready to SPLASH around with it all!

Your Turn.
What would you choose for a word to focus on?
Check out {The Happieness Project}: Choose One Word to set the tone for next year.
This year, 2011, has many great possibilities in store for each of us – may you find much meaning in all that is to come in the next twelve months!

You've Got Mail...hahaha!

So when I went home for lunch today, guess what was in the mailbox...go on...take a guess.
It was the first of many more to come .....2011 Swimsuit Catalog.

Really?

I mean...Really?

*ugh!*

Really.

Like pretty much of the American public, I had just started eating rabbit food and had thought about joining the gym.  Yeah, the salad part I've actually done.  The gym, nnnot so much.

And the swimsuits are so SO adorable!

Ok.  If that's not motivation right there ~ staring me in the face...I don't know what is!

Here's the kicker...Over the holiday break my daughter and my self made post-it notes to let women in America know they are Beautiful...just the way they are.  We put them on restroom mirrors in department stores, restaurants, the ice skating rink and the movie theatre.

Yeah, I should have left one in my own bathroom, hugh!?!

I don't think I'm fat by any means.  I just want to be able to wear the jeans I already have.  Ya know what I mean?  Oh yeah, and looking fabulous come summer time would be a plus.

Enough about that.  Moving along...

Dear Mother Nature,
Please, oh pretty please with sugar on top, will you let it snow already?  Big Daddy needs to go to work.
Thank you very kindly,
Jill

You see, my husband owns a lawn & landscape company.  In the winter time he pushes snow.  We have no snow.  None.  Nada.  Zilch.

While I was sweeping the kitchen the other day, he told me I was doing it wrong.  *grrrr!*

He asked for new pj's for Christmas, so that's what I got.  I didn't realize that when I got him new pajamas that I was purchasing his winter wardrobe!

Dear Big Daddy,
I honestly love you with all my heart, but Dood, you have Got to go to work!  Seriously.
Love ,
Pookie
XOXO

Yes, this is what I did over the break.  Because we aren't rollin' in the dough at the moment...we pretty much stayed in our pajama's and watched movies.

We got out of the house some, but for the most part this was it.  I did play Dance Revolution on the Wii...Yeah, that's some cool stuff right there!  Talk about a workout...I may not even have to join the gym!
That's all I got for today folks.

TTFN...Ta Ta Fer Now!

UPDATE:  The reason why Carody and I make these post-it notes is because we were inspired by http://www.operationbeautiful.com/  The mission is to end negative self talk.
Check it out...it's Awesome!  And fun!

I recently came across {Leigh Vs. Laundry}.  She makes me smile and want to get my camera out of the pretty little bag I paid so much for!  Anyway, she has inspired me...she keeps me on the edge of my creative seat, she makes me smile and even laugh.

Every week she is the host of The Happiness Project where you simply share what makes you happy.  In return you (I) get to see what makes others happy...and that in itself usually makes me even more happy!  It's a win/win!

Ok, so you're only supposed to share "A" picture ...but I just can't help but share the other pics of Maisy.  I hope she makes you as happy as she makes me.  Enjoy!

Show & Tell...You Bet!  I'll show off my Maisy Moo anytime!  You can love her too, but she's comin' home with me folks.

Photography love...

I"ll see your smiling faces next Tuesday my friends!

Living vs. Existing

"The difference between great people and everyone else is that great people create their lives actively, while everyone else is created by their lives, passively waiting to see where life takes them next.  The difference between the two is the difference between living fully and just existing"

Salsa Sunday

I could eat chips & salsa every day of the week...for real.  Today's lack of something to do, er uh things I didn't really want to do, led me to make this...Yo Kado 3 Bean Salsa.  Again, simple simple simple!

I thought I'd share...

Here.  Try it for yourself.  It's Fast & Fresh. AND it's Low in Fat & High in Fiber.  It's a Fiesta for your mouth.  No Lie.

3 Bean Salsa
1 can (15 oz.) Black Eyes Peas
1 can (15 oz.) Black Beans, rinsed & drained
1 can (15 oz.) Whole Kernel Corn, drained
2 cans Rotel Tomatoes
1/2 cup Green Bell Peppers, chopped
3 green onions, diced
1 large bottle Italian Dressing
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
(I added some cilantro to mine, oh and I forgot the green onion at the store so I used a purple onion cuz that's what was in the frig...it works...it's all good)

Drain first 3 ingredients, mix all together and chill overnight.
Serve with tortilla chips.  Keeps well!
