Thank you for everything! You (and you and you and you)…
Know that your visits, your comments, your word of mouth, your links, and – of course – make a difference in my life. I hope that I can help spread that back around.
Wherever you are in the world, I hope you have a lovely day of Thanks. And remember, do only what matters. Don’t stress about the other stuff.
Now get outta here will ya....I gotta go make my Deviled Eggs!

C'mon & Smaaash It

Every day when I go home for lunch, I make something to eat, sit in quietness {it's the only time my house is quiet ~ I rather enjoy it} and watch The Barefoot Contessa.  Today as I ate my ham sandwich, Ina Garten made, in front of my very eyes, chocolate...lots & lots of chocolate .

~ Rum Raisin Truffles
~ Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries
~ Chocolate-Dipped Fruits & Nuts
~ Mexican Hot Chocolate

I'm not even a big sweets eater, but I could hardly sit still!

She then talked of making chocolate candies and such, which lead to this FunTabulous invention of a party cake EVER!  *jills eyes Lit-Up ~ all chewing came to a Halt!* It's called a Smash Cake and it's made by Brigitte Browney of Cocoa Pod.

It's a hollow shell of chocolate, shaped and decorated like a large cupcake.  It even comes with it's very own mallet to break up the cake, or "smash it" if you will.

It's filled with truffles and MORE chocolate!  It's like a Chocolate Pinata!

Hmph!  Who knew!?!  Not me.

Sweet Dreams my friends!
Sweet Dreams....

A Little Winey

Confession: I like to have a glass of wine while I’m cooking dinner. I just like it. I don’t know how or why this started, and it doesn’t happen all the time, but it’s a relaxing pleasure of mine. I enjoy the flavor, the smell and the relaxing slow sips of goodness.

Last night while cooking dinner for my family I went to open a bottle of wine and this happened…

“Grrrr!”  The cork literlly crumbled and broke in half.
Big Daddy came to my rescue. He tried every fancy maneuver he could think of. First he tried using the cork screw again, like I hadn’t already done that!?! O_o Anywhooo…then he tried poking a knife in there. I honestly don’t know what or how he did what he did because I was making dinner, but there were pieces of cork in the sink and a chunk of cork in the bottle. But. He did it! He’s the man!

That’s not all folks.

He then took a strainer and a coffee filter and poured the wine through the filter to get rid of the cork parts. He then rinsed out the wine bottle, somehow removed the chunk o' cork, got a funnel and put the wine back INTO to the wine bottle and gave it back to me. *Yeah!* He did all this for littli ol' me.

*jill was happy and blushing like the wine*

I was so very happy. I got my favorite wine glass and started to pour... mmmm...My mouth was watering with anticipation. Yummyness in a bottle, and now in my glass.

*Bleck!*

It.  Was.  Gross!

I was so mad!

We had to pour out the whole bottle.
I Love You Honey!!! XOXO!!!

So my question is this…”What do you do when the cork breaks off in the bottle? How do you get it out?”

A Patriotic Musical

Last night we went to the school, to watch Caden and the rest of the 5th graders, sing a few patriotic songs for the annual Veteran’s Day recognition.

He was so excited!

He loves to sing.

...and hanging out with his friends.
He has a fantastic singing voice too. He had me take him extra early because he didn’t want to be late. He even took a shower when he got home from school…now that’s dedication!

I love to see him excited and happy like this.  It makes me ...well...it feels really REALLY Good I tell ya!  I'm all tingley inside.

I hope you have a tingley day as well!

Lost in Translation

Him: “It’s raining, look out the window.”
Her: “It’s time to go?”

Him:  “Where’s my sweatshirt?”
Her:  “Why would the kids get hurt?”

Her:  "Did you feed Maisy?"
Him:  “I’m not lazy!”

Her:  “Will you close the door!?!”
Him:  “You’re goin’ to the store?”

Him:  "awww!  It's raining!"
Her:   "No.  The phone's not ringing."

The very best one of all is when we were first married and I answered the phone “Cweekwood” instead of “Creekwood Lawn Company” (that’s my mans business)  Ha! …oops!

This is how I spent the morning with my daughter yesterday.  We made tons of post-it notes to place on the mirror's of public restrooms anywhere and everywhere we go.  I ran across one of these notes on a friends blog one day last week and it made me tear-up.  I was having a "fat" day AND a "bad hair" day!  Her post made me so SO happy that I wanted to do the same for every other girl out there who felt that yucky way.

You really should visit Operation Beautiful...I love it!  Actually I may be addicted to it.  lol!

The goal of the website is to end negative self-talk.  You see when I was in High School I had a problem with anorexia.  I'm not going to get into the details, but I will tell you that I am a healthy and happy woman.  However...there is not a day that goes by that I don't look at myself in the mirror, I mean really look myself over from head to toe and wonder if this will be the day when I will loose control.  (I'm getting tears in my eyes just typing these words)  (gulp!)  *deep breath...continue....*  Also there's not a day that goes by I don't step on the scale every morning and every evening like clock work.  Now, is that something I want to pass along to my daughter...Absolutely Not!  That's why I want to do this project with her.  I want her to feel good about herself and love herself enough to get through her entire life being proud of who she is.  I Love Her that much!!!

This is how it works, it's really fun to do, simply write a motivating note on a post it and put it up in a public place– such as on a bathroom mirror, in the gym locker room, or even on a random car’s windshield. If you want, you can write the web address www.OperationBeautiful.com on the bottom so other women can find the site!  How great is that!?!

Moving on...

I have kept  my mouth shut as I can.  Maybe you've heard about this.  Seems this wonderful little boy dressed up as Scooby Doo's "Daphne" for the school Halloween party.  Well, some of the mom's didn't like it.  The boy's mom blogged about it, here, and the news made a HUGE fiasco out of it here, here and here.

One of the reasons I quit FaceBook is because it seems to me that with the use of FB, Twitter, texting, so on and so on that today's society thinks they can say anything and everything that comes to mind, weather it be good or bad, positive or negative...they seem to think they have the right to just blurt it out regardless of who their words may hurt. They just don't care and that is sad.

On the flip side of the coin...I can completely understand where this mom is coming from and I stand behind her 110%!

My son plans for Halloween all year long! It's his most favorite holiday, with the exception of Christmas of course. He completely and totally loves dressing up. He plans and plans and plans right down to the last detail. Well, this year he had planned on being a transformer from one of his favorite movies. Unfortunately, the kids in his class lead him to believe that was NOT cool and lead him to believe that the way to fit in was to dress in blood and gore...something completely out of the ordinary for him. Completely!

To make a long story short, when we got to his school party, one of his classmates was dressed up as a girl. What a hoot! That was Great! When given the chance I pointed out to my son that the boy who dressed up as a girl did what "he" wanted to do and didn't let other's put ideas into his head. It's called "self confidence". Sometimes it's a good thing to do what You want to do and to stick up for yourself.

...and look, the other kid is Shaggy ~ how funny is that!?!

Teach your children to stand up for themselves...today it's Halloween costumes...tomorrow it's going to be other, not so fun, things.

Spreading the love....

So here is my daughter...on Friday she got Red Roses and Chocolates from her "boyfriend".

That was very nice.  She was happy all weekend long.

Reflections of Me

Just the other day I read this blog post at Blissfully Domestic, "How To Take Great Self Portraits".  I'm always the one taking the pictures at my house and hardly ever make it into our pictures.  I'm sure it's a common trait in many a household.  Anyhoo...she, Ivey League Mama, has come up with a clever and fun way to take self portraits.  Reflections.

You Bet!  I grabbed my camera and headed straight for the closest bathroom...lol!  Now, these are just staight out of the camera mind you, nothin fancy ...just havin a little fun.

Halloween

I hope everyone had a fantastic Halloween!

Our Halloween weekend was super busy and super fun. We had so many activities going on this weekend that I hardly got out my camera or to even sit down even. Caden went Trick-Or-Treating with his little friend this year, no parents. (eeps!) They went one time around the neighborhood and he said he couldn’t feel his hands any more so he came in.

SCORE!

I think Brother's happy!

Dad and Carody sat on the front steps wrapped in their snuggies. They got the idea to get a couple of little brothers helmets on and pass out candy that way.  Oh and by the way...Snuggies are just about the BEST invention EVER!!!
